Flora in the City …

Having been lucky enough to find this special little apartment in the charm of Columbia Road & leafy Haggerston Park we were totally inspired by the flower market and plant life around us to bring that indoors as much as we could.

We decided on starting our little flora family and this meant a visit to hundreds of plant stores hunting for our perfect plants. It turned into such an excursion that we had to make a stop at the pub for a pint or two in the middle while thinking up names for our new floral friends.

Gary, Bob, George, John, Jim & Oscar were carried home in a brown paper bag and are still going strong! Our indoor garden was made up of miniature succulents, cactuses & three ivy plants who we named Princess Jasmine, Marie José & Lucy Liu. Sadly the ivy girls didn’t survive long but the boys are still going strong.

We didn’t want our plants to be just sitting on a shelf all ordinary, we wanted them to have their own individuality so we went on another treasure hunt through the local stores and found them all their own original antique teacups to show themselves off to the best that they could! We totally feel that the plants have turned our house into a home. After all plants are living things so they add more life to our already lively lifestyle 🙂

Of course there is the little lessons to learn on improving our botanical maintenance but two brains are better than one so we learn from our mistakes there.

Our little plants are growing up & have brought such a coziness to our apartment that we think there is always space for more!
